Good question! I forwarded your question to Dieselsite -- should have a response from them at some point today on its compatibility with 2004+ Excursion transmissions.

The 5R transmission not only has a factory installed external transmission filter, but the lines are 1/2". We had intended to design a 1/2" model for them, but the factory unit is a well designed filter. The solonoid packs in the 5R are VERY tempermental and cannot tollerate any dirt of any size, so Ford had to install a better filter than the 4R had.
Hope that helps.

I am confused. I have heard the filter goes on the push side of the tranny and not the suction side. Is the push side the rear line on the tranny or front line? Thanks, Bob

Bob,

Off the top of my head -- I don't know. I followed the instructions included with the kit so I automatically assume them to be correct. You may want to contact Dieselsite.com for clarification.
